Whalley Public Toilets

We recently received correspondence from a visitor to the village, who expressed their disappointment with the condition of the public toilets, describing them as “I was absolutely shocked on how vile they are they must be the wost toilets in the country never seen anything so disgusting in my life .”
We have shared these comments, along with photographs, with Ribble Valley Borough Council, which is responsible for this public facility.
However, it is also important to acknowledge that many public toilet facilities in other local areas have closed, and Whalley is fortunate to still have a public facility available to residents and visitors.
We recognise that the condition of the toilets is a concern, but there are also ongoing issues with mindless vandalism, graffiti and criminal damage. CCTV has been installed in the area, and the Police are aware of the ongoing problems.
The damage caused by a small number of individuals comes at a cost to the taxpayer and has a wider impact on our community. We would appeal to everyone to treat this shared public facility with respect and report any incidents of vandalism or antisocial behaviour to the appropriate authorities.
We all have a part to play in keeping Whalley welcoming for residents and visitors.
