Whalley Enters the Best Kept Village Competition! ??✨

20th of May, 2025

We’re happy to announce that Whalley is officially taking part in this year’s Best Kept Village Competition! This exciting initiative is a collaborative effort between Whalley In Bloom, Whalley Parish Council, and the Whalley & District Lions, showcasing the pride and spirit of our vibrant village.

The competition celebrates communities of all shapes and sizes, rewarding those that go the extra mile to create a clean, welcoming, and beautiful environment.

Volunteer judges will be visiting between June and July, scoring villages on overall appearance, with particular attention to key features like schools, churches, play areas, and public spaces.
Whalley’s Stand-Out Features ?

Three nominated ‘outstanding features’ have been nominated by the village to represent the heart and soul of our community:
• Whalley Railway Station
• St. Mary’s Parish Church
• Sarah Layton’s

Villages will be grouped by size, with the top two from each category going head-to-head in a final round. The ultimate winner will be chosen by a special guest judge.

• Keep drains and footpaths weed-free and clean
• Ensure public spaces, bus shelters, and play areas are tidy and inviting
