Acknowledging VE Day 80
8th of May, 2025
The Parish Council wishes to mark the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day — VE Day 80 — a moment of profound historical significance.
On 8 May 1945, the end of World War II in Europe was declared, bringing relief, reflection, and a renewed hope for peace after years of conflict and sacrifice.
Eighty years on, we join communities across the country in remembering the courage of those who served, the resilience of those on the home front, and the lives lost in pursuit of freedom. As we reflect on their legacy, we also reaffirm our commitment to peace, unity, and remembrance for future generations.
We encourage residents to take a moment today to honour this anniversary — whether through attending a local event, observing the national moment of silence, or simply remembering in your own way those who gave so much.
Lest we forget.
