LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL (WHALLEY ROAD, BILLINGTON, RIBBLE VALLEY) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) NOTICE 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council consider it necessary or expedient by reason of works being executed on the following length of road that the prohibition should come into force without delay under Section 14(2)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this Notice.

1. No person shall cause any class of traffic to proceed over that length of Whalley Road, Billington from a point outside Higher Elker House to a point outside Foxfield's Country Hotel.

2. Nothing in this notice shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.

3. The prohibition will be operative from 0930 hours on 9th January 2025 until 2359 hours on 13th January 2025 or until completion of the works within this period.

4. An alternative route for vehicular traffic affected by the closure is via:-

Whalley Road – Whalley Clitheroe Bypass – Whalley Easterly Bypass – Accrington Road – King Street – Whalley Road and vice versa

The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow Cadent Gas to carry out urgent gas repair works. Authority given for this Notice to be made:
