We have received a number of reports today regarding door step sellers in the Ribble Valley.

The sellers appear to be selling dusters, dishcloths and other cleaning items at over inflated prices.

You should not feel under any obligation to buy from people on your own doorstep, we would encourage you to firmly and politely refuse the sales and close the door. On any occasion where the person refuses to leave or becomes aggressive please contact us immediately on 999. If it is no urgent please inform us either on 101 or our online reporting service LANCASHIRE POLICE - Lancashire Constabulary".

We would also like to offer the following advice when dealing with doorstep callers;

Always use the door chain when answering the door, if you are not sure, do not open the door

Do not keep substantial sums of money in your home

Always keep front and back doors locked

Report any suspicious callers or activity to the police immediately
